Twick-Or-Tweet.

Mateo went "twick-or-tweating" tonight. He couldn't wait to leave, but at the first house his nerves got the best of him. After three houses we came back home because that's where the "big" candy is. Why walk around the block for something you've already got at home? Once we got home he wanted his "twick-or-tweats," which we let him have - all 6 of them. He opened a few, ate a few bites and put them away. I think he's more of a candy taster than a devourer.

Here we are as a glamorous rock star family. Please, no autographs.

When it was time to go to bed he was supposed to take one treat with him. As you see here he insisted on taking ALL of them. (Daddy managed to offload the excess on the stairs on the way up.)
We want to give a BIG thank you to Mary and Dick who brought us this wonderful Halloween "treasure chest," as Mateo calls it. He just loves it, and obviously he loves the candy corn sucker, too.

We also want to give a special thanks to Mima and Papa (my parents) for the great Halloween card and bat magnet. Sorry, no photo for that one, but it is really cute. Just trust me on this.

I *think* this will be my last post about Halloween. So on that note, peace, I'm out!

Bits and pieces.

In keeping with the Halloween themed posts, I thought I'd post some shots of our decor.

Here's the inside.

This guy is my new favorite. I think he looks very happy.

And here's the outside (backyard).

We actually had more decorations than that, but that's all I managed to photograph. You already saw our pumpkins. In the front yard we also had some purple lights lighting the walkway and some bone lights around the door. You might wonder why I'm bothering to tell you this. Well, it's because I never remember from year to year what we do, so this is my way of documenting it. Alas, this year we did not resurrect the huge yard spider. It was asked about, though, so we'll see if we can make it happen again next year. That thing is huge and requires a lot of work.

Halloween Shindig 2009.

WHAT a party! We really enjoyed seeing our guests (all 37 of them) in costume. We even had some celebrities in our midst!

And some soldiers. At ease, guys. That little one at the bottom looks especially wily.

An emo/new wave band.
Joe Dirt.

Peace, Love, and Happiness (though Happiness had changed into his pjs).
And um, er... this.

As well as a wide variety of others.

Some of the items our buffet menu included Werewolf Meat with Caterpillar Sauce (beef fajitas with chimichurri), Mummy Toes (pigs-in-the-blanket), Fairy Brains (cut fruit), Witches Hats (cookies), and Vulture Blood (punch).

The Halloween Candy Hunt was lots of fun. Of the handful of lottery tickets hidden in the candy bags, sadly I think we only had a $1 winner.
Mmm... someone found a Witches' Hat cookie to eat and ate the chocolate part first.

Thanks to all our guests for coming!!

Jack o'lantern fun.

SOME of us spent our time carving pumpkins.
While OTHERS just asked for candy.

So what's a good parent to do? Well, first you realize what a mistake it is to have bags and bags of candy just sitting out. Then you make your child do silly things in order to earn it.

You also take photos of said child in the midst of a sugar rush saying "Mama, look at me! Look at me!"

Here's our family of pumpkin heads.
Mine has earrings.

Oh, and here's the scarecrow I've been promising.

We will miss our Pecos Bill.

Rest in peace, good friend.

Rock star!

Mateo's school had their Halloween costume parade today. The kids were just dern adorable. While Mateo didn't exactly sing along much, he strummed his guitar - which we were quite impressed with. He maintained his coolness through the whole event. By the way, the sunglasses (or "goggles," as he calls them) were his idea.

Here he is with his, like, totally rad teacher Ms. Mamie.

Making a punk rock face. I wonder if he knows what anarchy means?

It takes a REAL rocker to sport a mohawk AND Mickey Mouse shades.

Learning to deal.

I'm learning to deal with my new hair. Attempting to fade the color, I've shampooed my hair a gazillion times. Dare I even say that I am LIKING it now?

Connor's birthday party.

I'll leave writing the big recap to Tina, but here are a few of my favorite shots from the party.

Below are links for the albums per family. We were picture taking fools!
